Sonderschau ZADIK auf der ART COLOGNE 2023: Barbara Gross. Women Artists as Protagonists
Die ART COLOGNE findet vom 16.- 19. November 2023 in Köln statt und präsentiert ein vielschichtiges und hochwertiges Rahmenprogramm. Neben der diesjährigen Sammlungspräsentation der LBBW, gibt es die zweite Sonderschau des ZADIK, der Galeristin Barbara Gross.
Die Galeristin Barbara Gross hat immer jenseits von Trends gedacht und die museale Würdigung der Künstlerinnen und Künstler vor den eigenen kommerziellen Erfolg gesetzt. Sie arbeitete als Herausgeberin von Kunst-Editionen ab 1981 und als Galeristin in eigenen Räumen in München ab 1988 über fast 40 Jahre für mehr Gleichberechtigung von Frauen im Kunstmarkt.Als Kunstvermittlerin engagierte sie sich bei Ausstellungsprojekten außerhalb ihrer Galerie, bei Podiumsdiskussionen, in eigenen Zeitschriftenbeiträgen oder bei CONTINUUM, dem von ihr mitgegründeten Verein zur Förderung der Kunst von Frauen. Künstlerinnen wie Ida Applebroog, Maria Lassnig, Nancy Spero oder VALIE EXPORT, Katharina Sieverding und Michaela Melián bestimmten zunächst ihr Programm, das sie später kontinuierlich erweiterte, auch um Künstler wie Leon Golub, Rémy Zaugg oder Boris Mikhailov. Ihre Freude, internationale und junge Positionen aus China, Indien, Kuba oder Venezuela zu entdecken und den kunsthistorischen Kanon zu erweitern, war bis zur Schließung der Galerie 2020 spürbar – und ist es bis heute.
Die Ausstellung des ZADIK beleuchtet die Zeitspanne von den Anfängen der vielfältigen Vermittlungsarbeit von Barbara Gross bis Ende der 1990er Jahre. Anhand ausgewählter Projekte und der über Jahrzehnte währenden Zusammenarbeit mit Nancy Spero, die stellvertretend für die anderen Künstler und Künstlerinnen steht, wird die Programmatik der Galerie dargestellt.
Zur Ausstellung gibt es einen digitalen Guide, der weiterführende Informationen für Besuchende enthält und über die Freshmuseum-App auf dem eigenen Smartphone vor, während und nach dem Ausstellungsbesuch abrufbar ist.
Die ART COLOGNE startet am Donnerstag, 16.11.2023, mit Preview und Vernissage. Von Freitag, 17. bis Sonntag, 19.11.2023 ist die Messe für alle geöffnet. Die ART COLOGNE wird 2023 auch räumlich angepasst und wird sich auf zwei Ebenen der Halle 11 im Kölner Messegelände verteilen.
Die 56. Ausgabe der ersten Kunstmesse der Welt stellt im November 2023 ein hochkarätiges und sorgfältig kuratiertes Programm vor. An vier Tagen präsentieren rund 170 Galerien und Händler ein breites internationales Angebot an Kunstwerken.

Special event by ZADIK at ART COLOGNE 2023: Barbara Gross. Women Artists as Protagonists
ART COLOGNE is taking place from 16-19 November 2023 in Cologne and presents a multifaceted and high-quality supporting programme. In addition to this year's collection presentation of the LBBW, there is also the second special event of the ZADIK, the gallery owner Barbara Gross.
The gallery owner Barbara Gross has always thought beyond trends and prioritised the museal honouring of artists over her own commercial success. She worked as the publisher of art editions as of 1981 and as a gallery owner in her own spaces in Munich as of 1988 for almost 40 years on behalf of more equality for women in the art market.As an art educator, she was actively involved in exhibition projects outside of her gallery, in panel discussions, in her own magazine articles or with CONTINUUM, the association she co-founded for the promotion of the art of women. Artists like Ida Applebroog, Maria Lassnig, Nancy Spero or VALIE EXPORT, Katharina Sieverding and Michaela Melián initially defined her programme, which she later continuously expanded, also with artists like Leon Golub, Rémy Zaugg or Boris Mikhailov. Her pleasure in discovering international and young positions from China, India, Cuba or Venezuela and in expanding the art-historical canon was tangible up to the closing of the gallery in 2020 – and remains so to the present day.
The exhibition of ZADIK illuminates the time period from the beginnings of the diverse educational work of Barbara Gross until the end of the 1990s. The programmatic of the gallery is represented on the basis of selected projects and the cooperation over decades with Nancy Spero, which stands here as representative for the other artists.
A digital guide is available for the exhibition that contains further information for visitors and can be called up with the Freshmuseum app on one's own smartphone before, during and after a visit to the exhibition.
ART COLOGNE starts on Thursday, 16.11.2023, with a preview and vernissage. The art fair is open for everyone from Friday, 17 to Sunday, 19.11.2023! In 2023, ART COLOGNE will also be spatially adapted and will be distributed over two levels of Hall 11 on the Cologne fair grounds.
The 56th edition of the first art fair in the world will introduce a high-quality and carefully curated programme in November 2023. Around 170 galleries and dealers will present a broad international offering of art works on four days.
